The most popular instructors of the Institute
of Gay and Lesbian Education will be offering mini-courses in West
Hollywood this Sept. 19-21. The Weekend College will also mark the inauguration
of School's Out! -- a new program of community education at the
L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center. Under the theme "Queer 2000: Where
Do We Go From Here?" we will examine gay and lesbian psychology, film,
communication, politics, and culture from the perspectives of the past,
the present, and the future. In addition, there will be a keynote speech,
a historical exhibition (presented by ONE/International Gay and Lesbian
Archives), a game of Queer Jeopardy 2000, and a concluding Town Meeting
devoted to setting an agenda for the lesbian and gay future.
Everyone welcome! Members of the community from
all backgrounds are invited to participate.
Keynote Speaker: Tom Rielly is co-founder
of Digital Queers and CEO of PlanetOut, the largest internet service for
gay, lesbian, bi and trans people. Rielly's address is on "The Digitally
Queer Future: Peril and Promise."
Town Meeting Moderator: Torie Osborn has
been an activist for 30 years. Author of "Coming Home to America"
(St. Martin's Press, 1996), she is former director of the L.A. Gay and
Lesbian Center and the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force.
Plus psychologists Pat Alford-Keating and
