mx-men .........: still single.  When I turned 36 in May 2004, I definitely felt older, and the fact that I’m not in even a casual relationship w/ someone has weighed heavily on my mind.

My mind tries to find solace in the idea that being single is not so bad, but my body knows how wonderful that feels to be wrapped around someone, and then my heart steps in to remind me how one-way that has always seemed to be.

But I am the age now that my father was when he adopted me, so since I won’t be giving him a grandson, maybe I can give him a son-in-law.  And I don’t want the longest relationship in my life to be QMUG/LA, at 10 1/2 years so far.

.. alt.bin.pics.erotica.latino.  As far back as Nov ’96 is when I discovered the alt.binaries newsgroups, and I visited a few off and on through Apr ’00 collecting almost 300 pictures w/ custom thumbnails @ 32 pixels.

In Apr ’04, I rediscovered my favorite group, along w/ the wonders of Mac OS X, specifically its ability to display icons @ 128 pixels and its pan-and-zoom screensaver, and software written for it, specifi’ly Unison and Thumbnail Pro.

While I don’t think I ever did anything w/ my earlier collection, my new one serves as content for OS X’s incredibly pleasing show of moving pictures.  I’ve posted samples of my collections (G rated) if you’re interested.

...... My Father.  I wouldn’t be much of anything w/o my dad who’s always been there for me, so three years ago I was able to buy his roundtrip plane tkt to come visit me right after I had moved into my cute little bachelor pad.

He visited again, on his own dime, in Sept 2002, but we weren’t able to arrange anything for 2003, so due to my work at LACAAW, I was thrilled to be able to buy another roundtrip plane ticket for him this year for 2004.

I’ve tried to plan something for each day that we’re together to keep him entertained.  For the 1st week, I walked his butt all over the place, but for the next two weeks, he’s renting a car to make getting around easier.

We’ll use the car on Sat, Jan 8th, to drive up to San Francisco, return it on Mon, 01/10, then hit Macworld Expo/SF @ Moscone Center on Tue, 01/11, and he’ll fly out of Oakland back to Indiana on Wed, 01/12.

mz-misc ........: food.  Oct ’04 marked 1 1/2 years of working at the Trust for Public Land, Los Angeles office, and I was very excited for ~8 days in Nov when I found out there was a job opening in its San Francisco office.

Unfortunately, by the time I was able to inquire about it (the person hiring was on vacation), I found out it had already been filled.  =(  But I was very excited about the idea of moving, living and working in San Fran.  Maybe soon.

....... clothing.  When I turned 36, I didn’t just begin to feel older, but just plain old, and fat.  Now of course, this is only and completely relative to me and how I was just a year earlier.

During this late springtime, my dress pants finally gave out on me, and my 25"-waist jeans are definitely tighter on me now.  So the rest of this year has been spent looking for dress pants that fit me.

I know about a store in the Glendale Galleria for men up to 5'8", so I visited, and their quasi-Dockers fit, but were $75!  And their dress pants really rode high, and they were over $100!  So I got the 27"-waist Dockers.

I buy my dress shirts from Lands End, and they offer custom-made pants for about the same price (as Glendale), so, so far, I’ve been able to get a pair of corduroys from them that fit pretty well and feel pretty good.

So my quest for new dress pants will continue into 2005 w/ Lands End ~27 1/2"-waist custom pants, which take ~3 weeks to receive.  I’ll be so happy when that’s over and done.  =)

........ shelter.  As mentioned earlier, this Dec ’04 marks three years for me here in my cute little bachelor pad, which is a room, bathroom (w/ a great shower) and two closets (one of which houses my fridge and microwave).

In Oct ’04 I found out the unit next to me was becoming available, and _it_ has an actual kitchen, w/ a full-sized refrigerator, kitchen sink, and stove.  Wow!  Its only major drawback is a half-size tub.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t willing to voluntarily increase my rent from ~$525/month to ~$650/month for it, and my landlord already had someone lined-up who was willing to pay that amount.  Ah well, c’est la vie.
