For my trip to Chicago and Indiana a couple of years ago, I took my PowerBook.  For my most recent trip, I only took my iPhone.  My friend in Chicago was going to Italy, so we were able to check the time and weather there, and find an online language translator.  If you haven’t seen Jobs unveil the iPhone, I highly recommend it, and if you already have an iPhone, I highly recommend my wallpapers.

........... MW/SF 08.  Another Macworld Expo in San Francisco is coming up, in January 2008, so, as I have since 1995, I will go and find out what’s new.  Every Macworld is preceded by speculation as to what will be unveiled, and this coming one is no exception.  Strong on the radar is a new PowerBook/MacBook as well as an iTunes movie rental service.  We shall see if either appears.

While I’m not a big movie-person, I would be interested in the laptop.  My PowerBook suffered a fall in April ’07 that cracked its screen and that isn’t covered under warranty, plus its optical drive can read audio and data disks, but it’s lost its ability to burn them, which would be covered under warranty if I get the screen fixed before 02/04/08.  I know, I know, get the screen fixed.  <hehehe>

And as I already said to a friend of mine, I would not expect a brand new iPhone just yet, though maybe a software update w/ new features that current iPhones could enjoy might be highlighted.  A new/different iPhone is imminent though because Apple wants to make it available in Japan, which uses a different network from what’s here in the U.S. or in Europe.  A camera w/ zoom would be nice, too.

mu-music ..... Annie Lennox.  In addition to being a huge fan of all things Apple, I’m also a huge fan of Annie Lennox.  After having the pleasure of seeing her in Apr ’03 at UCLA, and again in May ’04 at the Hollywood Bowl, she passed through L.A. once again in Oct ’07, this time at the Wilshire Theatre in Beverly Hills.  I took my friend Pedro, and I noticed a lot of iPhones in the audience.  <hehehe>

......... Eurythmics.  Annie got her popularity through Eurythmics, and in my last review I mentioned that their albums were to be completely remastered and re-released.  Not only did that happen, in Nov ’05, but I was finally able to buy them, in Feb ’07.  They weren’t hugely expensive, but I just had other things on my list above them, so I was very happy to finally be able to get them.

............... Xmas.  I'm also a big fan of Christmas music.  I surprised my co-workers w/ a Christmas CD of 24 songs for Dec 2006 (I made almost 30 copies of it), and wasn’t sure I was up to the challenge again for Dec 2007, but ended up making another one of another (different) 24 songs (making almost 40 copies of it).  My #1 favorite this past year is Kay Starr's “The Man with the Bag.”

mx-men ...... Joshua.  In my last review, I sort of lamented how I was getting older and was still single.  That hasn’t really changed in the past three years, but I did have a very short, one-way experience between March and May of ’07 that at least let me get a little lick of how wonderful (and awful) having someone in my life can be.  It was strictly platonic, which was much better in the end.
