Mon, Nov 10, 1997: The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Centers ISO an Instructor
The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center is looking for someone to lead a four part
series of Intro to the Internet classes for the month of February 1998
at its CyberCenter.
The four part series would be a general overview of what the Internet is
(e-mail, mailing lists, newsgroups, IRC, FTP, WWW, etc.), basic surfing
skills (menu options, keyboard commands, etc.), how to e-mail (CC, BCC,
attachments, etc.), how to do basic research (Yahoo!, etc.), and a topic
of interest that would fit within the series time restrictions.
The day and time are not set yet, though Tuesday nights from 7:30m to
8:30pm is being considered, so some flexibility exists, if you prefer
Saturday from 2:00pm to 3:30pm or whatever.
The series will take place at the CyberCenter located at 1625 N Schra-
der. The CyberCenter has six Internet Exploration stations, so at two
students per station, the class will hold a maximum of twelve people,
not including the instructor.
The Center expects to charge $8 per class, 20% of which would go to the
instructor, so if the class is full, the instructor would be paid just
under $20 per class.
All people interested in being an instructor should contact Kirk Feral
at (213) 769-7204. The L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center is an equal opportu-
nity employer. Women, people of color, and even heterosexuals, are
encouraged to apply.
