Just a quick note to request two Certificates of Appreciation. This coming Monday, June 11th, 2001, QMUG/LA, the Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Macintosh User’s Group for all of Los Angeles, celebrates seven years of meeting at the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center and helping people w/ their Macs. QMUG/LA would like to request a Certificate of Appreciation for each of its officers for this year:

QMUG/LA began in June 1994 because Robb Ottenhoff of the Community Outreach and Education Department placed an ad in Frontiers Newsmagazine, and we have met every month since. Topics from just this past year include: 3D Modeling & Animation, Digital Cameras, Digital Video Editing, Hard Disk Utilities, Mac Basics, Mac OS X, Macs & PCs, Printers & Printing, and Web Authoring. 

Accomplishments this year include our sending out our 4th major USPS mailing to 40 or so of our members for whom we don’t have e-mail addresses, our growing our membership from 180 people to over 220, our getting our 100,000th hit to our entire website (in four years, for an organization that just this year reached 220 people), and our sending out over 1GB of throughput (in four years). 

QMUG/LA is special, and an asset to the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, in that (1) we are one of only two officially Apple-registered and recognized gay Mac groups in the world, (2) we have no gay PC/Windows user group equivalent, (3) our meetings are completely free of charge to attend, no membership fees or dues, and (4) our website and meeting handouts regularly list Center activities. 

In the envelope attached are a draft of what will be our *7th* Anniversary handout and photocopies of past certificates. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call or e-mail us!
