Hey there,
Now that the dust has settled and hopefully we've all had a chance to restand recuperate, I just wanted to thank the 9 leaders from 7 different L.A.
area Mac user groups for helping to staff the User Group Booth at Macworld
Expo/SF 2003...
<http://www.qmug.org/Team-LA/03-01-08--Schedule.html>
I hope you all enjoyed doing it as much as I did... Meeting all of you andso many others was truly wonderful and so much fun... Hopefully you were able
to help a lot of people find L.A. area Mac user groups near them, and impress
upon those not in the L.A. area how many groups there are here...
Kicking off the day, Nancy and I had Chuck Joiner of MUGcenter.com use mydisposable camera and Nancy's digital camera to take pictures of us at the
booth, so when I get my film developed or if Nancy'll send me her picture,
I'll be happy to post something...
[Nancy responds...]
> OK, Doan, I can take a hint! Here we are in all our glory.
> Thanks for all your hard work to make this happen!
Nancy Albrecht of the Santa Clarita Valley MUG* and Doan Stafford of QMUG/LA* hold a color map of the L.A. areas 40 Mac user groups and 6 Apple Stores. Photo courtesy of Nancys digital camera and taken by Chuck Joiner of mugcenter.com*.
Keith Mueller of MacFair.org* stopped by and bounced an idea of his off me...Michael Horton of LAFCPUG* was busy, busy, busy at the Final Cut Pro booth...
Phil Goodman of LAPUG* stopped by w/ an armload of raffle items...
And Susie Herrera of CVMUG* stopped by and said hi...
Even Patrick Crowley of iCalShare.com* stopped by to encourage everyone to
create iCalendars and list them at iCalShare.com...
At the Adobe User Group Breakfast, CHOMP* made copies of its newsletteravailable which I thought was cool... Take an 11x17 piece of paper oriented
portrait-wise, fold it down (now it's landscape), then fold it to your right
(now it's portrait again)... What app do you guys use to lay that out...?
[Jon Chaplin of CHOMP responds...]
> I designed it with InDesign, then we made a template for Quark...
> It's a great design, because it's only one sheet of paper, but still eight pages.
> And we can put a big poster in the inside pages in our color issues.
Lynette Kent of Adobe Technology Exchange* helped give away a cool Epsonprinter that will be able to print onto CDs...
And Nancy Albrecht of SCVMUG* won something, I think, at the Adobe raffle...
Garr Reynolds at the Adobe Breakfast was the icing on my cake for my trip...Unfortunately for me, I had to leave immediately after the Breakfast to
return to L.A., so I didn't get to chat, but I was able to get a hug and give
him a Map of L.A. area MUGs printed in color on 11x17 Epson Photo paper...
Like the L.A. area MUG Leaders Forum* in Aug '02, I'm so glad we helped makethe User Group Booth happen at Macworld Expo/SF '03... Now we can all focus
on our own groups 'til the next big project comes along, like maybe a Spring
Forum, or maybe a Summer Camp, or maybe a... <hehehe>
Should you ever need to access the information that was in our brochure wewere handing out, you can do so at Team L.A.'s website... 'Til I see you
again, have a geat start to the new year, have great Mac user group meetings,
and have yourself a lot of fun...!
Sincerely,
Doan Thiel Stafford * http://www.qmug.org * (323) 222-QMUG/7684
