Answers:

> 1. Why a World Wide Web site for a local Macintosh user group?

Well, we originally had a conference on a local First Class bulletin board system, but our members seemed to show resistance to it, and the BBS eventually folded. We had talked of having a web site, and the BBS’ closing seemed to be the perfect reason to act. We had planned on having our site up by December 1st, 1996, but it didn’t happen ’til six months later. Yes, this website is accessible to the whole wide world, but Los Angeles is a pretty big city, and anything we can do to make ourselves more easily accessible to the lesbian, gay and bisexual Macintosh users here in Los Angeles, the better.

> 2. What do you expect to accomplish with this site?

Well, to increase our visibility — to show off what a cool group we are — to the population we’re serving, and also to the rest of the world. We’re proud to be Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals, proud of our Macintoshes and what we can do on and with them, and proud to be living in this City of Angels, Los Angeles. When we think big, we think having other QMUG chapters elsewhere would be really cool, so this website allows other people in other cities who feel the same way we do to see that creating a group like ours is possible and hopefully give them the impetus to start their own, maybe a QMUG/<your city here>!

> 3. What are the basic premises for this site and its pages?

 1. Pages should load quickly.
 2. Pages should be primarily text-based.
 3. Pages should still make sense with graphics turned off.
 4. Graphics should load quickly.
 5. Graphics should be small.
 6. Graphics should be Mac-centric.
 7. Pages should be simple.
 8. Pages should be clean.
 9. Pages should be short, and not run on and on and on.
10. The site should be a source of Pride for both Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals, and Macintosh Users.

> 4. How successful has this site been?

Well, perhaps the best indicator of this would be from our average weekly hit statistics, but being linked directly from the Apple website, and being able to be found in a Yahoo search for “gay macintosh” are also positive indicators of its success, we think.

> 5. What is this site’s revision history?

To allow this page to load quickly and be short, pls see our revision history, now on its own page.

> 6. What can we expect in the near future?

At this point in time, just four items come to mind:

 1. Once the dust settles from this more recent refresh, we’d really like to tackle our Quarry.
 2. We dream of pop-down menus.
 3. We’re getting to the point where a Search/Sherlock option might be nice.
 4. And maybe having our Dock in Flash format would allow magnification, genies, etc...

> 7. What is the best way to print these pages?

Because our menubars won’t fit on 8 1/2" paper when printed at 100%, we find printing at 85% to be just fine.
