Documents

On Tuesday, May 5th, 1998, Apple put up a puzzling main page — “Pro. Go. Whoa.” — in preparation for its special announcement the next morning, and the following Monday, May 11th, Apple made another special announcement. One of QMUG/LA’s co-chairs was able to attend both live satellite downlinks of these announcements at the Apple Market Center in Santa Monica, CA, which was particularly timely in that QMUG/LA had its monthly general meeting that Monday night.

Our Major Apple Update was screenshots of important sections of apple.com in HTML pages hyperlinked together for an offline presentation. Not only were we able to present this information first-hand (or at least one co-chair’s understanding of this information), we were able to supplement it w/ official Apple literature from its own Market Center, as well as w/ printouts from apple.com, macintouch.com and maccentral.com.

The following six pages are essentially what was presented that Monday night, w/ what was spoken now being written, w/ Apple’s Software Strategy added for completeness, and w/ qmug.org page (headers and) footers on each page for consistent integration into the site as a whole. The original presentation simply had the images hyperlinked together, but now that it’s on our site, simply click on the little text arrow instead. ->
