Here’s a timeline of when what happened to make this Forum happen. 

     
    Wed Jun 19  Garr e-mails his interest in coming down 

    Thu Jun 27  Doan responds suggesting Sun, Aug 11th, for a leaders meeting;  Mon, Aug 12th for a LAPUG meeting;  Tue, Aug 13th for a QMUG meeting;  and Wed, Aug 14th for a USC MUG meeting 

    Sun Jul 07  Garr responds saying these dates are fine 

Week of Jul 15  Doan begins scouting for a meeting place, hoping for freeway-friendly USC or the Apple Market Center in Santa Monica, then the L.A. Film School or the L.A. Gay & Lesbian Center, then Dr. Rawstock or Hollywood & Highland, then the Farmers Market or the Grove 

    Tue Jul 23  Doan e-mails a query to all 36 officially Apple-registered and recognized L.A. area MUGs to gauge interest in meeting Garr;  receives a 33% response-rate w/in 24 hours 

    Sat Jul 27  Doan e-mails Garr an update:  LAPUG will meet on Mon, Aug 19th;  USC MUG will meet on Wed, Aug 7th;  and an initial query returned 12 groups interested in meeting him 

    Sun Jul 28  Garr responds that these changes are fine 

    Mon Jul 29  Doan overnight expresses a draft of the Forum’s handout to Garr for review 

    Wed Jul 31  Garr calls Doan and says let’s go for it 

    Thu Aug 01  Doan sends out an official invitation to all 36 MUGs, plus individual leaders of MUGs that didn’t respond to his earlier query, as well as to MacCentral and Macintouch to reach out to active but not registered groups, however neither announce it 

    Wed Aug 07  Doan calls 12 groups to follow-up 

 By Thu Aug 08  Over 40 leaders from over 20 groups RSVP they will attend 

 By Sun Aug 11  Doan has initiated or sent out as replies at least 50 pieces of e-mail, and in return received at least 70 messages 

Week of Aug 13  Doan processes Feedback cards;  creates a gallery of thumbnails of L.A. area MUG website main pages;  writes up and sends out Wrap-up;  and prints up in color, puts together and mails out extra copies of the Forum’s handout to Garr 

Week of Aug 20  Doan replaces Apple’s tabbed graphic navigation bar at the top of each Forum page w/ the Forum’s own navigation bars, w/ rollovers;  and replaces the red numbers on Results, the Map and Calendar w/ colored ones to help identify meetings of different sizes 

Week of Aug 27  Doan adds L.A. to Garr On Tour, and sharpens and lightens some images;  fades out the Map to make groups stand out more, and adds a cross-referencing Legend w/ Apple Stores;  and adds dates to correspondence sent
